Two-time world champion Tyler Wright will be hoping the lull in waves at the World Surf League's G-Land event in Indonesia continues after testing positive for COVID-19.
A third consecutive lay-day was called on Tuesday due to small conditions at Banyuwangi, with only the first round in both the women's and men's competitions completed so far.
There have been some critics of the tour's decision to hold the event at G-Land in the shoulder season, rather than winter when a bigger swell can be expected.
But the current lull suits leading Australian Wright after she was ruled out of the Roxy Pro until June 4, two days before the competition window is set to close.
"Tyler Wright has entered the WSL's COVID health and safety protocols. Based on the league's protocols, Wright is expected to be cleared for competition by June 4," the WSL said.
Wright is currently third in the world rankings after winning the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in April, which gave her a big points boost.
If she manages to return to competition at G-Land, Wright will face a sudden-death round after missing top spot in the opening round.
With just 12 women in the field following the mid-season cut, only the top finisher in each round-one heat advances, while the other two surfers go into the elimination round.
Seven-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore advanced directly through to the quarter-finals while Wright and Sally Fitzgibbons face the sudden-death round.
If available, Wright will take on West Australian Bronte Macaulay, while Fitzgibbons faces Isabella Nichols in another all-Australian match-up.
In the men's Quiksilver Pro draw, Australians Jack Robinson and Ethan Ewing advanced after winning their respective heats, with three-time world champion Gabriel Medina, John John Florence, Italo Ferreira, and Griffin Colapinto among the others to make it through.
The tour next heads to El Salvador with an event due to start from June 12.
