Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney's prediction comes true in dramatic Notts County clash

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney correctly predicted Paul Mullin would prove pivotal in their potential National League title decider against Notts County.

With both clubs sitting on 100 points heading into their Easter Monday meeting at the Racecourse Ground, it was always going to be fine margins that decided the season's second meeting between the sides. Notts may have won the reverse fixture in early October, but the Welsh club's Hollywood owners were left celebrating over the bank holiday weekend.

The visitors took the lead through a John Bostock free-kick on the stroke of half-time, but Wrexham top-goalscorer Mullin fired in an equaliser and assisted Jacob Mendy to turn the match around. County equalised soon after, but Mullin turned provider once again as Elliott Lee scored what proved to be the winner. Ben Foster ended up being the hero with the last-minute penalty save, but Mullin playing a part in all three goals got them into a winning position in the first place.

McElhenney and fellow co-owner Ryan Reynolds were watching on in the stands, and the former even posed for a photo with match-winner-to-be Mullin before posting what proved to be a prophetic message on social media. "Big games call for big names," the tweet reads. "Let’s go Super Paul Mullin!"

Wrexham now sit three points clear atop the National League with a game in hand over their nearest challengers as only three weeks of the season remain. Mullin has scored 36 goals in this potentially promotion-winning campaign for the champions-elect.
