Wrexham captain leaves Laura Woods speechless with comments on Ryan Reynolds' mum

Laura Woods couldn't believe her ears when Wrexham's skipper claimed Ryan Reynolds' mum was "not a bad looking woman at 77".

Ben Tozer, who is leading Wrexham's promotion push, made the outrageous comments during an appearance on talkSPORT with presenter Woods on Tuesday. The interview came just a day after Wrexham defeated Notts County 3-2 at the Racecourse Ground.

That victory leaves the Welsh club three points clear of Notts County at the top of the National League with a game in hand. Phil Parkinson's side need just seven points from their final four games to win the title and end their 14-year absence from League Two.

Tozer was invited on to talkSPORT to discuss the victory and some other topics, most notably Reynolds' mum Tammy. Hollywood star Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney own Wrexham and were at the Racecourse on Monday to watch the drama unfold.

Members of the owners' families were also in Wales, including Tammy. "Ryan Reynold’s mum has been flirting with you as well, you’re her favourite," Woods told the Wrexham skipper. Tozer replied, "Not quite her favourite, but we had a lovely hug though."

Yet it was Tozer's next comment which left Woods in disbelief. He added, "She's not a bad looking woman at 77, it's got to be said!"

Wrexham's clash with Notts County captured English football's imagination, with thousands of fans tuning in to watch the drama unfold. The visitors took the lead when former Tottenham midfielder John Bostock scored a superb free kick on the stroke of half-time.

Goals from Paul Mullin and Jacob Mendy then gave Wrexham a 2-1 lead before Kyle Cameron made it 2-2. Notts County were then left chasing another equaliser when Elliot Lee scored to put the hosts back in front, and they were on the cusp of finding it when Wrexham conceded a last-minute penalty.

Yet former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster produced a stunning save to deny Cedwyn Scott from 12 yards. The dramatic conclusion dominated the headlines, so it's no surprise that Tozer was invited on to talkSPORT to relive it.

"To be on this rollercoaster, it’s amazing and I’m glad to be a part of it," added Tozer. "I’m just gutted I’m not a bit younger."

Tozer, who has previously played for the likes of Newcastle, Northampton and Cheltenham, joined Wrexham in August 2021 - shortly after Reynolds and McElhenney bought the club. The 33-year-old defender was part of the side that narrowly missed out on winning promotion last season, something they seem destined to achieve this time around.

"I'm used to working under extreme pressure, but usually I have some kind of control over it," Reynolds told BT Sport at full-time. "I have nothing here, all I can do is watch and hope like everybody else... When I get my hands on Ben Foster, he's gonna be on the injured list because I'm gonna break ribs I'm gonna hug him so hard."
