Wrestler Aman Sehrawat enters quarterfinals at Paris Olympics

NEW DELHI: In the 57kg freestyle division at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, young Indian grappler Aman Sehrawat easily advanced into the quarterfinals with a dominant performance against competitor Vladimir Egorov of North Macedonia.

The only male wrestler from India to make it to the Olympics, the 21-year-old gold medallist in the Asian Championship, was incredibly agile as he maintained his defense while routinely using leg holds to overwhelm his 29-year-old opponent, the former European champion, to win the match on technical superiority (10-0), as per PTI.

After Aman's all-out attack on Egorov's knee in the opening round, it appeared that the fighter was in some discomfort.

With just than two minutes remained, Aman scored two more points and took a 10-0 lead, meaning the Macedonian was unable to mount a comeback.

Later in the day, Aman will compete in his final-eight match.
