Manchester United have been told they might have to change their approach when playing off Wout Weghorst, should his proposed January loan move from Burnley go through.
Key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom are advancing with a deal to bring the Netherlands international to the club this month after Cristiano Ronaldo departed them for a second time. As such, United need a stop-gap option to replace the five-time Ballon d'Or winner in providing back-up to Anthony Martial.
Weghorst is currently with Turkish side Besiktas and scored nine goals in 18 matches for them. The Manchester Evening News has revealed that the club's attempts to bring in the Netherlands international are currently being held up by Vincent Aboubakar's wage demands to become his replacement at Besiktas. Discussions between the parties are ongoing.
