Would you Buddie believe it? Paisley star is favourite to reprise Dr Who role

Buddie David Tennant is being tipped as favourite to get back in the Tardis.

If he lands the role again, he’ll be the first Time Lord to return as Dr Who.

Ladbrokes are taking bets at narrow odds of 11/10, miles ahead of other likely candidates, for a reprise.

The 50-year-old was ranked as the best Dr and starred in 47 episodes over three series and screen specials.

Father-of-five Tennant, who lived in Ralston, was the tenth Time Lord, playing him from 2005 to 2010.

Actress Raquel Cassidy,54, starred alongside Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor in the BBC series, and said a Tennant return would be “fantastic”.

She said: ““He was a very, very beloved doctor, so I think that would be really lovely.

“I’m not sure if we’ve ever had a Doctor go back and re-inhabit the same body. So, that would be interesting.”

Minister’s son Tennant is an ex Ralston Primary and Paisley Grammar pupil and he hit the big time when he became the Dr.

Jodie Whittaker as Doctor Who (BBC)

Lydia West and Olly Alexander sit at 4/1 with the bookies to be the next Dr, with fellow on-screen cast member and lead in the West End musical Cabaret Omari Douglas at 6/1.

Current Dr, the first female Jodie Whittaker, has been plagued by poor ratings and will leave later this year.

The show is 60 next year and if Tennant returns he would be the tenth and fourteenth Time Lord.

Alex Apati, of Ladbrokes, said: “Rumours surrounding a sensational Tardis return for David Tennant are gathering speed, and the latest odds suggest that’s exactly what Doctor Who chiefs have up their sleeve when it comes to Jodie Whittaker’s replacement.”

The speculation increased when it emerged that screenwriter Russell T Davies, who was Dr Who producer when Tennant was in post, is to return for the new season.
