Every time a premier player hits the open market there is an outcry from Pittsburgh Steelers fans for them to sign said player. The latest one is Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner. The Rams are planning to release Wagner and the Steelers certainly have a need for an athletic inside linebacker.
Would the third time be the charm for Pittsburgh to sign a big-name inside linebacker in free agency? So far the Steelers are 0-for-2 in trying to replace Ryan Shazier in free agency with Myles Jack and Joe Schobert. Is Wagner a better option than either of those guys? At 32 years old it is hard to say. But with Jack a possible salary-cap cut, there is going to be a need to add at least one but more likely two more linebackers.
The Steelers also had a swing and a miss in the draft with Devin Bush in their effort to replace Shazier. Bush is headed to free agency and the Steelers have made it clear he is not in their long-term plans.
Let us know in the comments if you would like to see the Steelers try to sign Wagner and if you think he is the answer to the Steelers problems at inside linebacker.
