Manchester United are looking for midfield reinforcements this summer. The club are in talks with Barcelona over a deal for Frenkie de Jong, but fans are wondering who will partner the Dutchman in the heart of midfield.
Plenty of names have been mentioned by United fans but it seems the club are keeping their cards close to their chest. Porto's Vitinha had been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Fabrizio Romano has claimed United never registered a solid interest in the midfielder, who now looks set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
One player who United are eager to sign is Christian Eriksen. The 30-year-old Danish midfielder is available on a free transfer with his contract at Brentford set to expire and the Manchester Evening News understands United are keen to secure the services of the former Tottenham man a contract.

A lack of Champions League football was not thought to be an issue for Eriksen but, according to The Athletic, there might be another factor that pushes United to the back of the queue. They claim that the midfielder's preference is to stay in London this summer and so he is likely to either extend with Brentford or return to Spurs.
United fans are annoyed with the club's transfer business. They believe the De Jong deal is taking far too long and now they are set to miss out on Eriksen, even if it is for reasons completely out of their control.
They made their thoughts known on social media. Here is a selection of responses from Twitter:
