Liverpool are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Leeds United winger Raphinha and could use Takumi Minamino as part of the deal. The Reds are likely to be in the market for a replacement for Sadio Mane this summer, who is thought to be keen to leave Anfield, with Bayern Munich among interested clubs.
Leeds are said to be holding out for a fee of at least £60 million for their Brazil international this summer, if they have to lose him, which could mean Liverpool look to use Minamino who was linked with a move to Elland Road in January. Barcelona are also very keen on signing Raphinha this summer, but with their poor financial situation, and Leeds’ lack of interest in any of their player swaps, a deal is on the rocks.
Minamino has been very much a fringe player at Anfield since his move from Red Bull Salzburg, but his excellent goal scoring record suggests he would an excellent addition. He netted 10 goals last season in all competitions, despite starting just nine games.

The 27-year-old has worked under Jesse Marsch during his time at Salzburg and would therefore be able to slot straight into his 4-2-2-2 system. Minamino is versatile and can play anywhere across the frontline, whether that be centrally or out wide should Marsch look to vary his tactics.
Perhaps an area that Leeds would need to be wary of is that Minamino does not carry the same dribbling ability as Raphinha. Leeds would lose a significant level of creativity - both in running at defenders and passing if Raphinha departed. However, Minamino, with another winger more in Raphinha’s mould could be the best option for Leeds this summer.
