Two men who tried and failed to steal a cash machine from a supermarket in Carlisle, Cumbria, were convicted within hours of the attempt.
Tjay O'Neil, 35, and Dean Smith, 33, targeted the ATM at Morrisons on Kingstown Road shortly after 6.30am on Tuesday 15 September. The botched theft was captured on CCTV.
The pair appeared in court the following day, where they pleaded guilty in the face of overwhelming evidence against them, including the footage, the Crown Prosecution Service revealed in a post on social media.
Both men will be sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on 14 October 2026.
