The mum of a young American teenager who vanished in Glasgow has issued a desperate plea begging for help to find her.
Anekah Wissinger, originally from Texas, had been in the city centre with her parents on Tuesday January 18 when she left to buy food from a nearby shop.
But the 14-year-old was reported missing to police after she failed to return with her iPhone switched off near Buchanan Galleries shortly before 4pm.
Mum Kat Leith Wissinger has shared an image on Facebook of her daughter’s distinctive yellow cardigan and of her last known phone location data from yesterday.
She wrote: “We have no updates on Anekah’s whereabouts. This was her last known location. She does have an iPhone but it’s been off since 3:55pm.
“Police are looking at CCTV footage to trace her steps from there but aside from that we have next to no information.
“We are begging, if anyone has seen her please let us or the police know. Thank you.
“I’ve attached the cardigan she was wearing. It’s pretty noticeable, maybe jog someone's memory.”
Anekah, who had been visiting family in Inverclyde, is described as being white, around 5ft 7in tall and of an average build.
She has long bleached blonde hair with dark roots and green/blue tips.
The teenager was wearing the yellow cardigan, a black top, light blue jeans with black and white trainers when she went missing.
She also speaks with an American accent.
Police Scotland Sergeant Alyssa Fullelove-McCann said: "The fact that Anekha doesn't know Glasgow and that she has not been in touch with family since yesterday is really concerning.
"Officers have been checking CCTV and liaising with colleagues in British Transport Police in an effort to trace her. Local transport companies have also been contacted to keep a look out for her but we would also again ask the public to get in touch if they have any information as to where she is.
"Her hairstyle is quite distinctive, so hopefully someone will remember seeing her.
"If you have any information as to where she is, then please contact police via 101 quoting incident number 2695 of Tuesday, 18 January 2022.
"We'd also appeal to Anekah herself to get in touch with her family or police - everyone just want to know she is ok."
