One day after Team17 announced its line of Worms NFTs, the publisher is canceling all support for the controversial cryptocurrency technology following public outcry.
“Team17 is today announcing an end to the MetaWorms NFT project,” Team17 said in a press release on Tuesday. “We have listened to our teamsters, development partners, and our games’ communities, and the concerns they’ve expressed, and have therefore taken the decision to step back from the NFT space.”
The MetaWorms NFT project announcement came Monday, and like Ubisoft and GSC Game World before them, Team17 was met with an immense backlash that clearly didn’t sit well with the company.
