The world's largest penguin colony on a remote island near Antarctica has suffered a sharp decline in numbers, most likely because of the climate crisis, a new study has found.
Researchers from the British Antarctic Survey found a 63 per cent drop in occupied chinstrap penguin nests between 2011 and 2025 on Zavodovski, a volcanic island in the South Sandwich Islands.
