Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has highlighted the state’s growing role in India’s semiconductor industry in a video filmed outside Tata Electronics’ semiconductor assembly and testing facility in Jagiroad, describing the under-construction project as the world’s largest of its kind.
In the video, Sarma pointed to the facility, which represents an investment of Rs 27,000 crore, and recalled how Assam’s participation in the country’s semiconductor push had once seemed unlikely to many. He said the state had now become an important part of that transformation.
