'World's most prolific sperm donor' tells This Morning 'I feel sorry for these people'

A man who claims to be the most prolific sperm donor in the world said he "feels sorry" for people who struggle to conceive.

This Morning guest Clive Jones claims to be the 'most prolific sperm donor' and has provided enough donations to father 129 children and is currently expecting a further nine.

The 66-year-old says he likes to help as many couples conceive as possible.

Speaking from his home in Derby, he explained that he is too old to give samples to a traditional sperm bank.

He said: "The cut off age is at 45. It's about DNA damage as people get older so that was my first worry."

Clive explained that he started his donations eight or nine years ago now as he explained how he got into it. He read about it in the papers and realised that there were same-sex couples and couples struggling to conceive who really wanted children.

He doesn't ask for any payment, so co-host Alison Hammond asked what his motivation was behind the donations.

The donor replied: "I feel sorry for these people. I could relate to them myself. I knew from a teenager I was going to have children.

"But it's about helping. Wouldn't it be nice if we all lived in a world where we helped each other? It's not really that difficult for me to provide this.

"And the reward - the messages I get makes it well worth it. I do enjoy some of the really nice messages I get."

Dermot O'Leary questioned how Clive produces 'the magic stuff'.

He went on to explain: "I pull up in my van in the street, pull a curtain around the front of my car. Then I give them a call and say I'll be round in a few minutes.

"I'll go around to the house with a syringe, and I tend to keep it under my arm to keep it warm. Knock on the door and it's as simple as that."

Clive said it is only often successful around one time in every eight so he sometimes gets repeat callers. He claims that he is very 'loyal' as some people in need of his help have taken up to two years to have a success story.

Dr Larissa also appeared on the show as she stated that it is a complex issue and the main regulators for sperm donations are highly against this method of unregulated donation.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and the ITV Hub.
