World media reacts to Celtic 'monopoly' as Ange domination goes global and penny drops over Rangers peril

Champions, that's who they are.

Ange Postecoglou has repeated the feat and his encore was even more emphatic than his critically acclaimed debut in Glasgow's east end. Celtic are the best again and there's a compelling narrative stretching across the globe – the Hoops are now in prime position to reign as they close in on Rangers' record trophy haul. The blue corner boasts 117 but Celtic have been cutting the gap at a rare old rate and now stand only two triumphs behind their fierce foes with the Scottish Cup Final against Inverness to follow.

And that sense of Celtic's domination and potential leap to first place is on the agenda of some of the biggest platforms on the planet. But their compliments are not limited to the champions' impressive trophy haul. Postecoglou and Kyogo Furuhashi has been lavished with praise with their role in consecutive title parties as the 2-0 win over Hearts crowned them once again.

Record Sport goes global to find the best reaction to Celtic's latest glory day.

L'Equipe (France)

The leading French outlet had all eyes on the talismanic figure who sparked the victory. It read: "Who else but him? The providential man Kyogo Furuhashi scored his 24th league goal of the season in the Premiership on Sunday and offered a precious victory to Celtic on the lawn of the Heart of Midlothian, in Edinburgh. And the man who entered the game in place of Furuhashi, the South Korean Oh sealed the coronation of the Celts, without even waiting for the meeting between the Rangers and Aberdeen."

Diario AS (Spain)

The Amazing Ange and his title winning adventure – that could be the name of new book from this admirer of the Australian. It read: "Postecoglu is slowly making a name for himself in European football. The Greek coach with an Australian passport is a legend in Asian and Oceanic football after having won a Japanese league with Yokohama Marinos and the Asian Cups with the Australian team in 2015 and the Oceanian Champions League in 1999 with South Melbourne . In July 2021, the Celtic board of directors bet on him to replace Neil Lennon and things could not have gone better for Celtic: they have won two consecutive doubles, monopolising the titles in Scotland for two seasons."

Voetbal Primeur (Netherlands)

Celtic's domination is now expected and one outlet also tipped their hat to Rangers which underlines the magic of the man in the Parkhead dugout. They wrote: "The national championship has been almost 'normal' for Celtic in recent years. Rangers FC is now a formidable opponent again, but in the past twelve seasons the arch rival has only managed to become champion once. All other eleven times, Celtic were better. With the 53rd league title, Rangers' record is coming closer and closer. The Gers , who are still record holders in Scotland with 55 titles, did not claim the overall victory for a moment this season."

Sydney Morning Herald (Australia)

It's all about Ange Down Under. They stated: "It’s two down and one to go for Ange Postecoglou’s treble-chasing Celtic in Scotland. The Glasgow club clinched the second leg of its latest bid for three domestic trophies in one season by retaining the league title on Sunday with four games to spare. A 2-0 win at Hearts left Celtic with an unassailable lead over fierce rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership."

Tutto Mercato (Italy)

And in Italy the theme was very much about Celtic's stranglehold of the rest. It read: "An eleventh title won in twelve years, with four games to spare, Ante Postecoglou's Celtic Glasgow are once again on the throne of Scotland. The 2-0 at Hearts of Midlothian decides, with a 13-point lead, the distance to second-placed Glasgow Rangers is now unbridgeable. Celtic can make the treble in the Scottish Cup final on 3 June against Inverness."

SRF (Switzerland)

Forensic and to the point, how very Swiss, SRF said: "The he defending champion made everything clear four rounds before the end. The second-placed Glasgow Rangers, who have to stand guard against their arch-rivals at the Old Firm, the Glasgow Derby, next weekend, as Scotland's record champions are only two titles ahead of their city rivals."

Dirilis Postasi (Turkey)

The domination laid out in numbers with a handy stats bomb. It read: "Scottish giant Celtic scored 105 goals and conceded 25 goals in the games they played this season. They did not concede any goals in 15 matches."
