World Cup today: Co-hosts United States aiming to win group against Turkey

  • Germany, having already secured their knockout spot, will be without key defender Nico Schlotterbeck due to an ankle injury, providing a slight advantage to Ecuador who desperately need to win to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
  • Ivory Coast stand on the verge of making history by advancing to the knockout rounds for the first time, facing a Curacao side with only a slim mathematical chance of progression. Kick off in Group E is at 9pm BST (4pm ET).
  • In Group F, the Netherlands and Japan are level on points and goal difference, with the Dutch aiming to extend their 14-match World Cup unbeaten streak against Tunisia.
  • Sweden, under manager Graham Potter, still has a chance to win Group F if they defeat Japan and the Netherlands fail to secure a victory in their match. Kick off in Group F is at midnight BST (7pm ET).
  • The already qualified United States play Turkey, needing to win to top Group D, while Paraguay and Australia still have hopes of reaching the knockout rounds. Kick off in Group D is at 3am Friday BST (10pm Thursday ET).
