World Cup 2026 fixtures: What are the biggest matches this week?

The 2026 World Cup continues this week with a new format for Fifa’s giant 48-team tournament – here are some of the biggest games coming up.
Monday (local time) sees Spain play Cape Verde, while Belgium goes head-to-head with Egypt.
On Tuesday , Group I’s France takes on Senegal and Argentina plays Algeria, while Wednesday sees Portugal go head-to-head with DR Congo and England play Croatia in their first match of the tournament.
On Thursday , co-host Mexico plays South Korea and Switzerland takes on Bosnia & Herzegovina, before Scotland competes against Morocco on Friday.
Moving into the weekend, on Saturday , Germany plays Ivory Coast and the Netherlands go head-to-head with Sweden, while Spain takes on Saudi Arabia on Sunday .
