An indoor World Cup fan zone in Newcastle city centre has been described as the place to be for the forthcoming tournament in Qatar.
The former o2 Academy building has had a £2.75 million pound refurbishment giving the popular venue a new lease of life and former Newcastle and England players Rob Lee, Steve Howey and Lee Clark are all set to be involved as pundits - mixing with supporters during big matches.
Live music and entertainment venue NX Newcastle has today announced a 1,500-capacity fan zone for all of England's games at the 2022 competition.

Organisers say: "Kicking off with England’s first match against Iran on 21 November, NX - which occupies the former o2 Academy building - are offering football fans the ultimate World Cup party, giving supporters the chance to come together under one roof to experience all of England’s matches on the biggest indoor screen in the city.
"Newcastle is renowned for its football-mad mentality and NX promises to deliver with an immersive atmosphere unlike any other, complemented by a jam-packed programme of live music, top quality DJs and match analysis and banter from host, Sky Sports’ Keith Downie.
"While Qatar 2022 promises to bring the heat, NX’s indoor venue will provide a welcome respite from the cold winter months.
"Newcastle’s Britpop party-starters, The National Anthems are among the live music acts set to perform, bringing the perfect soundtrack of 90s bangers from the likes of Oasis, Blur, Stone Roses, Pulp and The Verve."
Confirmed group stage showings are:
● 21st November: England vs Iran // Kick Off 1pm (doors 11:30am)
● 25th November: England vs USA // Kick Off 7pm (doors 5pm)
● 29th November: England vs Wales // Kick Off 7pm (doors 5pm)
Tickets for the England World Cup Fan Zone are on sale from 12 noon WEDNESDAY 21st S EPTEMBER! Tickets are available from https://www.nxnewcastle.com/ , and Gigantic. Tickets are priced from £10 (plus booking fee) with VIP packages soon to be announced.
