France edged past a stubborn and physical Paraguay side thanks to a penalty kick by Kylian Mbappé (1-0), sealing their place in the World Cup 2026 quarterfinals after a frustrating but dominant display. They will take on Morocco on Thursday.

France beat Paraguay 1-0 on Saturday in a tense Round of 16 clash, controlling large stretches of the game but needing a Kylian Mbappé penalty to finally break through.
