World Cup 2022 ultimate guide - Schedule, fixtures, UK kick off-times and stadiums

The World Cup is fast approaching and excitement is starting to build for the latest installment of the tournament. The games will get underway on Sunday, November 20th with Qatar against Ecuador - England face Iran the following day and will be hoping to start off their campaign with a win.

Fans will be in for an action-packed affair during the group stages from Tuesday, 22th of November to Friday, 2nd of December as they will be treated to four live matches a day.

But when are the games you want to watch, where will they be played and what happens after the World Cup Group stage concludes? To answer those questions here is your ultimate guide.

World Cup 2022 fixtures to watch

England's opener is followed up by an intriguing clash as the Netherlands face Senegal. Sadio Mane will be coming up against his former Liverpool team-mate Virgil van Dijk.

2018 World Cup winners France begin their attempt to retain the trophy on Tuesday, November 22 when they face Australia, while runners-up Croatia open their campaign the following day against Morocco.

England's second fixture is against the USA will take place on Friday, November 25 and the American side will be hoping to get one over on Gareth Southgate's side. Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal will begin their campaign against Ghana on the 24th of November.

Arguably the most enticing group fixture comes the following day when Spain take on Germany before Group H explodes into life with two great matches, Brazil vs Switzerland and Portugal vs Uruguay.

The Three Lions final group game against Wales is set to be played on Tuesday November 29 and the following day sees current Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski's Poland battle with former Barcelona star Lionel Messi's Argentina.

World Cup 2022 s tadiums

Qatar's largest stadium is the Lusali Iconic Stadium with a capacity at 80,000. It will host to ten matches at the tournament, including six group fixtures, a match in every knockout round and most importantly, the final on December 18th.

The second largest venue is Al Bayt Stadium, located in Al Khor. It can hold 60,000 and will host the opening game of the competition between Qatar and Ecuador.

Al Wakrah also has it's own stadium, the 40,000-seater Al Janoub stadium. It will host six group games including France against Australia and Ghana against Uruguay.

Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium and Education City Stadium are all located in Al Rayyan with a capacity of 40,000.

Stadium 974, which gets it's name because it's made from 974 recycled shipping containers, and Al Thumama Stadium also have a capacity of 40,000 but are located in Qatar's capital city, Doha.

Finally there is The Khalifa International Stadium, which was opened in 1976 and is the only venue that hasn't been built specifically for the World Cup.
