World Cup 2022: Gio Reyna ‘good to go’ as USA star allays injury fears ahead of England showdown

Gio Reyna insists he is “good to go” ahead of the USA’s crunch meeting with England on Friday.

The midfielder did not play in his country’s opening 1-1 draw with Wales on Monday, a game that saw Gareth Bale score a late crucial penalty after Timothy Weah’s opener.

Reyna is one of the USA’s leading lights, operating at a high level with Borussia Dortmund and one of the most high-profile players in Gregg Berhalter’s young side.

While the Dortmund youngster was on the bench, Berhalter opted to turn to Brenden Aaronson and Jordan Morris in the second-half, a period in which Wales moved into the ascendancy after largely playing second fiddle for the opening 45 minutes.

The USMNT coach confirmed the 20-year-old was experiencing some “tightness” in his muscle and revealed Morris was introduced in the second-half for his “speed and power”.

After the game, however, Reyna told reporters “I’m 100 percent and I’m good to go.”
