Working to position Assam as gateway to South East Asia: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said the Assam government is working to position the state as the gateway and the expressway to ASEAN and South East Asia following the Centre’s renewed thrust on Act East policy.

Inaugurating a conclave on Act East through the northeast in the presence of ambassadors and high commissioners of ASEAN countries here on Friday, Sarma said the development narrative generated by the Act East policy has given a new hope to the people of the northeast to align themselves with the development initiatives of the central government.
