Work starts on new power plant

West Midlands

Work has started on a new energy plant in the West Midlands capable of powering up to 2,000 homes for a day.

Centrica Business Solutions is leading the project to create the new 20MW hydrogen-ready "peaking plant" in Redditch.

The gas-fired facility is being constructed on the site of a previously decommissioned power plant in the Worcestershire town where eight containerised engines to burn natural gas are being installed.
