Wordle players left confused as same answer appears on rival game Quordle

Two rival daily online word games have had a crossover in answers for the first time ever.

Wordle has been loved the world over since it first emerged online late last year, with millions of people now taking part in the game.

Incase you’ve been living under a rock, Wordle sees plays allowed six attempts at guessing a mysterious five-letter word.

The game gives you feedback on how close you are to a match with each attempt.

But some players are now searching for similar alternatives amid accusations that Wordle is now becoming ‘ too difficult ’.

One of those games is Quordle, which entered into its 30th daily game today.

It’s hard to see why people claim this game to be easier than Wordle, as you are given nine tries to guess four words in Quordle.

And it would’ve been a case a deja vu for players that have continued to play both, as the Wordle answer was also one of the ones selected for Quordle.

“Trove” was among the four Quordle answers that appeared today - with “caper”, “shout” and “beady” making up the other.

Today’s Wordle answer today was also “trove”.

Shortly after the discovery, some players shared their conspiracy theories as they let their imagination run wild.

One person wrote: “Either there is a really big coincidence or else the Quordle people played Wordle today.”

Another joked: “Wordle and Quordle having the same word seems…Qwordinated.”

Last month, it was revealed that US newspaper The New York Times had paid a ‘low seven-figure’ fee to acquire the game.

The publication described Wordle as ‘stimulating’ and ‘wildly popular’ when announcing the deal.

A spokesperson for The New York Times confirmed that the game will remain free to play for new and existing players, with no changes being made to its gameplay.

Jonathan Knight, general manager for The New York Times Games, said: “If you’re like me, you probably wake up every morning thinking about Wordle, and savouring those precious moments of discovery, surprise and accomplishment.

“The game has done what so few games have done: It has captured our collective imagination, and brought us all a little closer together. We could not be more thrilled to become the new home and proud stewards of this magical game, and are honoured to help bring Josh Wardle’s cherished creation to more solvers in the months ahead.

“As part of our portfolio of games, Wordle will have an exciting future with the help of a team of talented engineers, designers, editors and more, furthering the user experience.”
