Steve Diamond, rugby boss of Worcester until the club’s liquidation three weeks ago, has launched a rescue bid.
Diamond branded Warriors’ demise the “darkest day for English rugby” and 20 players have since moved on.
But their director of rugby hopes to salvage the club and is understood to have financial backing from Adam Hewitt, the club's former shirt sponsor, as well as a London-based investor.
"My goal is a sustainable business able to compete back in the Premiership within three or four years,” he said. “To allow professional rugby to thrive in Worcester which is really important because sport is massive in the community.
"It's all about the survival of rugby and how to rebuild the club in the Championship, making it sustainable.”
Worcester have been in administration since October 5, are suspended for the rest of the season and have been relegated to the Championship.
“I thought it was the right time for me to come off the fence a little bit and say, ‘This is what we are going to try and do’,” Diamond added.
“I think I have got a vision that could revolutionise the Championship and make people in the Premiership look down and say, ‘Actually these guys are running a sustainable rugby business. How do we follow suit?’”
