The fantasy musical film 'Wonka,' featuring Timothée Chalamet as the eccentric chocolatier, has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the $600 million mark in global box office earnings. With $210 million generated in North America and $395.1 million internationally after 10 weeks in theaters, 'Wonka' has amassed a total of $604.9 million worldwide.

Only seven films released in 2023 have managed to surpass the $600 million threshold, making 'Wonka' a standout success. Produced by Warner Bros. with a budget of $125 million, the film has maintained a strong presence in the top five on domestic box office charts since its premiere in December.

The enduring popularity of Timothée Chalamet, combined with the brand recognition from Roald Dahl's classic novel 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and its film adaptations, including the 1971 version with Gene Wilder and the 2005 reboot with Johnny Depp, has contributed to 'Wonka's' box office longevity.

Directed by Paul King, 'Wonka' now stands as his highest-grossing film, surpassing the 'Paddington' movies. For Chalamet, it represents his biggest international box office success to date, although the upcoming 'Dune: Part Two' release in March could potentially alter that ranking.

The family-friendly film, also starring Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, and Hugh Grant as an Oompa-Loompa, delves into the early life of Willy Wonka before the events of 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' The movie has resonated with audiences worldwide, becoming an instant classic for a new generation.

In a statement, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group expressed gratitude to the cast, crew, and moviegoers for embracing 'Wonka' and bringing Roald Dahl's beloved characters to life in a captivating manner. The film's success is a testament to the creative vision of the team behind it and the enduring magic of Dahl's iconic storytelling.
