'Won't matter' - Derby County takeover update prompts Nottingham Forest fans response

Nottingham Forest fans have given their reaction to the latest takeover news around rivals Derby County.

While the Reds gear up for one of their biggest games in recent history, the Rams are looking to climb out of administration after eight months. American businessman Chris Kirchner now looks to be closing in on a purchase of the club.

Releasing a statement late last night, Kirchner confirmed that he will be ‘the next owner of Derby County’ after contracts were exchanged. That has since been confirmed by the club’s administrators who say that ‘Significant progress’ has been made on a sale of the club. It has though been said that contracts are ‘conditional on the sale of the stadium and some small bits.’

While this is going on across the East Midlands, Forest are in play-off semi-final action tonight as they take on Sheffield United in the second leg at the City Ground. Steve Cooper ’s side are just 90 minutes from a trip to Wembley Stadium, having taken a 2-1 lead from the first leg at the weekend.

It’s no surprise then that concentration is on that game as Forest aim to take a step closer to a return to the premier League. Some fans did however take time to give their thoughts on the goings on at Pride Park.

Wellesbournered : Still it won't matter because one things certain, you won't be playing for the Brian Clough Trophy next year! Glad Derby live to fight on though. #NFFC

Wayne : Absolute laughable Derby trying to outdo Forest by announcing takeover over playoffs on the same day

Max : derby fans celebrating still being a club on the same day we have a game to get to Wembley.

Kenneth Field : Has @cskirchner popped up at the far post in Fergie time to save the sheep? Except it's "conditional on the sale of the stadium and some small bits" and it wasn't announced via any official channel.

Kaine Barr : Honestly don’t understand #Leeds are in the Prem #Forest in the mix to be there and derby have just been relegated so why would (we) Forest or Leeds even care about this take over
