Originally scheduled for last spring, the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations finally kicks off this Sunday in Rabat, Morocco. Algeria take on Senegal in the opening match, while defending champions Nigeria begin their quest to retain the title as the tournament favourites.

Elsewhere in the sports news, Kang-in Lee's move to Atletico Madrid has been made official. The South Korean, a two-time European champion with PSG, has signed a five-year deal with the Spanish club. Lyon, meanwhile, have taken a gamble on Loïs Openda, with the Belgian striker joining on a season-long loan from Juventus. In the Premier League, Arsenal are monitoring Vinicius Junior, who has just one year remaining on his contract with Real Madrid.
