Women's World Cup hosts write to FIFA over controversial Visit Saudi sponsorship

Fifa Visit Saudi World Cup Football Football Australia New Zealand Football New Zealand Athletic Gulf

The hosts of the 2023 Women's World Cup have written to FIFA after it emerged Visit Saudi would be a sponsor for the tournament.

Football Australia is 'very disappointed' that FIFA did not discuss the sponsorship deal with the Gulf nation's tourist board with them, considering women's rights still are subject to the discretionary attitudes of men.

The FIFA website itself says: "Women’s football remains a work in progress in some regions of the Persian Gulf."
