Women's football to show support for Turkey and Syria after devastating earthquakes

Women's football will come together this weekend to show their support for the people of Turkey and Syria who have been impacted by the devastating earthquakes in the region this week.

Clubs taking part in matches across the Barclays Women’s Super League and the Women’s Championship have been encouraged to observe a minute's silence before kick-off and to wear black armbands where possible. The FA, along with other European federations, will also be contributing to a joint disaster relief fund to support those affected.

In the early hours of Monday morning, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southern Turkey and was followed by a number of powerful aftershocks. Over 21,000 people are known to have lost their lives in the earthquakes with many others injured, missing or displaced.
