The final round of group games at the Women’s Euro 2022 get underway this evening, with England looking to head into the quarter-finals in style.
The Lionesses have already booked their place in the knockout stages following their demolition of Norway on Monday. And with Sarina Wiegman’s side guaranteed to top Group A, the England coach can afford to rest up some of her star players against Northern Ireland.
The game in Southampton is essentially a dead rubber for both sides, with Northern Ireland having been knocked out following their defeat to Austria on Monday. In the night’s other game though, there is everything to play for.

Austria and Norway are level on three points each heading into their encounter in Brighton, and will be fighting it out to face Germany in the quarter-finals. The latter’s 8-0 drubbing against England has done a lot of damage to their hopes, with Austria needing just a draw in order to go through.
