England fans have been advised to travel early for next week’s Euro 2022 quarter-final at the Amex after train delays forced hundreds of fans to miss the start of Monday’s win over Norway.
The Lionesses thrashed Norway 8-0 at the Amex, booking a quarter-final there against either Spain or Denmark next Wednesday, but some supporters missed kick-off due to a broken down train in the area.
Govia Thameslink, who operate the line from Brighton to the Amex, have apologised for delays, but don’t expect this to impact the next game as it was a one-off train issue.
They and the FA, however, have advised fans to travel early for next week’s quarter-final to avoid any possible issues.
The FA will continue to work closely with the stadium transport manager, who helps plan events at the Amex, and all travel stakeholders for the upcoming games at the tournament.
A Govia Thameslink Railway spokesperson told Standard Sport: “Unfortunately a broken down train caused some knock-on delays to services in and around Brighton ahead of the England v Norway match.
“Although this affected a very small number of fans in getting to the game on time, we’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
