Two children and three women were rescued by firefighters after a flat fire at a south London tower block on Tuesday morning.
Around 80 firefighters were called to the fire at a 21-storey tower block on Surrey Lane in Battersea just before 4am.
Fire crews used fire hoods to lead one woman and one child to safety on the 16th floor, where half a four-roomed flat was destroyed in the blaze. They were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics at the scene.
Another two women and a child on the 20th floor were also led to safety by crews wearing breathing apparatus.
The Brigade said its 999 control officers also gave vital fire survival guidance to other residents in flats on the 16th and 20th floors.
Fire escape hoods provide members of the public with up to 15 minutes protection fire gases to temporarily filter toxic smoke and make breathing easier.
The blaze was deemed under control around an hour later at 5.08am.
Fire crews from Battersea, Chelsea, Clapham, Fulham, Wandsworth and Lambeth fire stations were in attendance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
