Woman writes off stranger's £300,000 Lamborghini in crash - and walks away with £40 fine

A careless driver who wrote off a stranger's rare £300,000 Lamborghini in a crash has been spared jail - and fined just £40.

Kayleigh Finnie, 36, ploughed her black Alfa Romeo Giulietta into the yellow Lamborghini Aventador on a country lane.

A court heard Finnie, who is a mental health worker, also damaged her own car in the crash and nobody was hurt.

The road was closed for two and a half hours when police in Waltham, Lincolnshire, found the 2016 Lamborghini left lying across the road after the accident close to dark skid marks and churned up verges.

The rare supercar, a model which costs between £250,000 and £300,000 second hand, was damaged beyond repair, reports Grimsby Live.

But Finnie was spared jail at Grimsby Magistrates Court on Wednesday after admitting driving without due care and attention in relation to the incident.

The defendant, who lives in Grainthorpe, Lincolnshire, was given three points on her licence, fined £40 and made to pay a £34 victim surcharge.

The crash happened on Monday, 5 July, 2021, and left significant debris on the road.

At the time, Humberside Police posted on Facebook : "Luckily nobody has sustained serious injuries."

Police included in their post the hashtag "#onnoLambo". The Aventador is popular among celebrities and famous previous owners of the model have included singer Justin Bieber, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and rapper Kanye West.

Fewer than 600 of the Lamborghini Aventadors remain in the UK. Capable of 217mph they can reach 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds.
