Woman woke to find her car had been dragged down road

A woman has been left 'shocked' after she woke up to find that her had been dragged four meters down the road.

Anna Upton from Walnut Road in Southport had gone to bed after the Jubilee weekend hoping to have a lie-in on her day off. However, she was awoken this morning to find that her mother's car had been badly damaged during the night.

Upon further inspection of the Peugeot 108 apart from the boot having been completely ripped off Anna also found a decapitated teddy bear in the boot. To make matters even more bizarre the scene of the crash had also been swept up and cleaned.

Speaking to the ECHO the paramedic said: "It been shunted sort of 4 to five metres down the road, randomly everything had been swept up and there is the teddy bear which has got cable ties around its neck. It has obviously been attached to a bumper from another vehicle it is all just a little bit strange really."

Anna said the mystery of who swept up the road was solved only a few hours after she posted the photos on Facebook. According to Anna, the clean-up was undertaken by some neighbors after they saw the debris on the road last night.

Anna, 40, said: "The recovery people have been out for the insurance and the guy said "you are probably not going to see this back again" so he didn't seem too hopeful. All of the back end is done in and the rear quarter on the driver's side that sort of all smashed around the wheel arch."

The car had been bought last year for Anna's mum after she had suffered from a stroke. Anna had moved back in with her mother to help take care of her while she was recovering.

She said: "Whoever has done it it's not like they have just caught it with just a clip on the wing mirror and you just didn't realise. There is obviously going to be considerable damage to the vehicle that has done it for it to have been shunted so far along."

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were contacted at 4.20am today, Monday 6 th June, following reports that a parked car had been hit by another vehicle on Walnut Street in Southport. The car, a Peugeot 106, suffered rear-end damage in the collision which is believed to have happened between 10pm (Sun) and 4.20am.

"Anyone with information can DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting log 0096 of 6 th June."
