A woman who is accused of decapitating a man and dismembering his genitals after she sexually assaulted him, has attacked her own lawyer in court. Taylor Schabusiness, 25 allegedly raped Shad Thyrion, 25 before beheading him and putting his body parts in a bucket during a drug-fuelled sex game in February last year.
She is now standing trial for murder and was pictured attacking her attorney Quinn Jolly in the Brown County circuit court in Greenbay, Wisconsin, US, the Mirror reports. Despite being handcuffed, the defendant still managed to hit the lawyer on the head with her elbow but he didn't suffer any injuries.
Schabusiness was held down to the ground after a security guard stepped in to control her. The assault took place moments after a judge agreed to delay her trial as Mr Jolly asked for an extra two weeks for a defence expert to review his client's competency to stand trial.
Moment after Judge Thomas Walsh agreed to postpone her March 6 trial, the defendant attacked Jolly and was consequently wrestled to the ground by the deputy. The courtroom was cleared before the hearing resumed.
Schabusiness is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault in the killing of Shad Thyrion, 25, in February 2022. Authorities claim she strangled Thyrion at a home in Green Bay before raping him and dismembering his body.
It's been detailed that she allegedly left parts of him scattered throughout the house and in a vehicle. Schabusiness has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and is being held on a $2m cash bond.
Following the courtroom assault, the judge moved her competency hearing from Tuesday to March 6. and also proposed a May 15 trial date. At the end of the court, Jolly told the court he would be filing a motion to withdraw from the case as Schabusiness' attorney but the judge did not immediately rule on that statement.
The defendant allegedly told police last year after her arrest that they were 'going to have fun trying to find all of the organs'. Her van was searched and a cooking pot with human remains was found inside.
Officers also made the grim discovery of a 'male organ' in the bucket alongside multiple body parts that had been spread across the house. Schabusiness and Thyrion had been using methamphetamine before travelling to his mum's to carry out their drug fuelled bondage sex game.
Prosecutor's claim that Thyrion was sexually abused and dismembered after multiple parts of his body were found in his mum's home and her van. Green Bay Police Officer Alex Wanish said he 'observed the plastic bucket on the floor...[with] a shower/beach towel over the bucket' and a severed human head was found inside it.
The 25-year-old also allegedly told officers that she continued to abuse Thyrion's corpse 'because she enjoyed it'. Police said: “Schabusiness made the comment that at one point, she did get paranoid and lazy and that she thought it was the ‘dope’ that was making her paranoid."
Schabusiness has undergone two competency evaluations and led to Judge Thomas Walsh ruling in May that she is competent to stand trial.
