The woman had been in the water for some time but she was described by emergency personnel as "alive and responsive".

A spokesperson for Courtown RNLI confirmed that the woman was successfully found alive and that she was receiving medical treatment.

"The woman was missing since Tuesday night and we located her with the aid of Rescue 117 on Wednesday afternoon. She had been in the water before that. The fact that she was recovered alive was very lucky," the spokesperson stated.

The local woman was found on the north side of Roney Rock - a rocky shoreline in north Wexford.

The rescued woman was brought by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she received medical treatment.
