Woman travelling to Cardiff 'trapped' in train coach after engine decoupled leaving her behind

A woman travelling from Bath to Cardiff has spoken about her "distressing" experience over the Jubilee weekend when she became trapped in a train carriage. Grace - who didn't want to disclose her second name - was on her way to visit family in the capital when she found herself stuck as the engine decoupled at Bristol Temple Meads.

What followed was a "panicked" attempt to get help during which she, and a middle-aged couple who had been travelling in the same coach, tried to attract attention by banging the windows and shouting, SomersetLive reports.

By the time the trio was eventually freed, the Cardiff train had moved on without them and they had to get a later service. Grace said she actually ended up missing her family commitment due to the delay.
