A woman has warned other young people to watch out for 'red flag' cancer symptoms and not put off going to the doctors after she mistook one for an STI.
Olivia Wallace, from Sunderland, found a lump on her tongue which she was "convinced" was a sexually transmitted infection and she didn't get it checked out because of the "stigma attached" to it.
But when the lump became sore whenever she ate, Oliva, who was 20 at that time, booked to see her GP, reports Chronicle Live.
