Woman thought she had a bad cough - only to receive a life-threatening diagnosis

A woman "feels lucky to be alive" after going to the GP with a bad chest infection and being diagnosed with England’s deadliest cancer.

Karen McCarthy, from Manchester, went to see her doctor after suffering a bad cough for two weeks.

"My GP sent me for an X-ray as I was over the age of 60", she told the Manchester Evening News..
