With so many photo editing apps on the market, it takes mere seconds and a couple of quick adjustments to smooth your skin, cinch in your waist and blur out cellulite.
To combat this, body-positive influencer, Karina Irby, often shares before and after photos of her body to show her 1.2 million followers the reality behind the snaps.
In a recent post, the Australian swimwear designer showed how easy it can be to dramatically alter your appearance by changing your pose.
She took two bikini pictures five minutes apart - one relaxing her body and confidently flaunting her curves in the other.

Karina captioned the images: "What you see online compared to how I’d look if you walked past me on the beach.
"Snapping content is all about angles! And this is a prime example!
"These pics were taken five minutes apart and I look like two different people!
"I love both versions."
Karina's post garnered 7,700 likes and dozens of positive comments, with many people praising the influencer for being so "real" about her appearance and feeling comfortable in her own skin.
One person said: "You're so real on here and it's a breath of fresh air."
Another wrote: "You make me feel so much more comfortable in my own body, much love."
A third commented: "Love your candour and transparency!"
Someone else put: "Thank you for what you do."
Celeste Barber, another Instagram influencer, also plays a role in the body positivity movement, but in a slightly different way.
The Australian comedian is best known for impersonating celebrities' social media posts to normalise the perfectly preened pictures we see on Instagram.
One of her victims was rapper Cardi B, who in her snap, could be seen wearing a tight dress that featured a body in a bikini, while her boyfriend looked on.
As usual, Celeste put a completely different spin on things as she recreated the picture.
