A woman was taken to hospital following a crash which left her trapped in her car in Wallsend.
Emergency services attended the scene of the two-vehicle collision on the A1058 Coast Road westbound at the Benfield Road slip road from 8.15am on Wednesday morning. At the scene they found a woman who had been involved in the collision who was trapped in her vehicle.
Crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene where they freed the trapped woman. She was then taken to the RVI for further treatment.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “At 8.15am today (Wednesday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A1058 Coast Road westbound at the Benfield Road slip road.
"One person was taken to the RVI with an injury believed to be minor."
A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service Spokesperson added: "We can confirm that at 8:16am this morning we received a call about a road traffic collision on the A1058 Coast Road in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Our crews from Byker Community Fire Station were on scene in a matter of minutes to begin the rescue of a trapped female.
"Our crews left the scene at 9:03am."
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said that one emergency ambulance crew was at the scene and that a woman was taken to hospital.
They said: "We received a call at 8:50am to reports of a road traffic collision on the A1058 Coast Road in Newcastle. We sent an emergency ambulance crew and took one female patient to the RVI for further treatment."
The Benfield Road slip road re-opened at approximately 9.30am.
