Woman swears she’ll never order Uber Eats again after courier corners her in an elevator, hugs her, and demands a five star review

A woman on TikTok has shared her traumatic story involving a creepy and inappropriate Uber Eats courier after he cornered her in an elevator and hugged her without consent. It seems like they really do just let anyone be a food courier these days.

TikToker, “ceoofcomplainin,” AKA Michelle, swears she’ll never order from the food delivery app again after her disturbing experience with the creepy employee. She shared her story on TikTok telling the company to “do better for women,” after she was essentially threatened by the weird man while alone in an elevator with him.

What happened?

Michelle explains that she was travelling alone for work and was in a city she was unfamiliar with. She didn’t want to walk to get food as it was already getting dark outside and her surroundings were unfamiliar to her. Therefore she opted for what she believed was the “safer option” by ordering food via Uber Eats.

According to her, the hotel she was staying in required a keycard at all times to enter so she left instructions to meet in the lobby. On her way down a man gets in the elevator from a different floor. The man then strikes up a conversation with Michelle although she doesn’t respond. He then tells her he has a delivery for a girl named Michelle, which makes her realize it’s her Uber Eats rider.

It’s strange that the man was able to get into the building without a keycard but Michelle ends up explaining to him that the food is for her. It’s at this point that he randomly hugs her and keeps getting closer to her. Naturally Michelle freaks out. She demands her food but the courier tells her she has to give him a five star review. Michelle claims that he started getting agitated as he stared at her.

Eventually she gave him the five star review and after he left she pushed the button in the elevator to go up. Before the door closes the courier stops it with his arm “like a horror movie” as Michelle describes it. He then insists that he’s going up with her. She then gets out of the elevator and thankfully there were others nearby who spooked the deliveryman.

The response from Uber

Michelle explains that she immediately reported the incident to Uber and received an immediate response apologizing and refunding her money. However, that hardly seems to be an adequate response and in her video, Michelle put the company on blast for lacklustre safety measures, “you guys are literally employing these f—ing psychos.” Uber doesn’t have the best track record in dealing with rogue employees.

In later updates Michelle shared that Uber eventually banned the delivery driver from all Uber platforms although considering her experience, it’s understandable why Michelle would never want to order from the company again.
