Timing is everything in life. Pregnancy announcements are one of them. Sure, adding a new member to the family creates a whirlwind of emotions, but for many, it remains an exciting occasion. As one woman demonstrates, a noisy, crowded restaurant isn’t the place to share the news with her fiancé.
Pregnancy Announcement Gone Awry
Reno-based TikTok creator Kathy (@kathysannnn) shares her “POV: you choose the worst possible time to tell your man you’re pregnant.”
Initially, the scene appears to be a page out of a typical date night, where the couple sits beside each other inside a bustling restaurant, smiling. Then, she glances at herself in the camera, noticing something ‘wrong.’
“I need to do my lips,” she says, pulling out her purse and taking out her makeup bag. “Can you look for my red lipliner?” she asks her man. When he begins fishing through her bag, it sets her announcement in motion.
After four failed attempts, he gazes at the bottom of the bag, searching until his eyes grow huge and jaw drops at his discovery. Hint: it’s not the lipliner.
“Holy [expletive]. You’re dead serious?” he asks, at a loss for words. He zips up the pouch after seeing, presumably, the pregnancy test. The content creator nods, gushing with glee in response. “I didn’t think we were gonna be in here. I thought we were gonna be somewhere a little quieter,” Kathy says. On cue, the video ends with a female server interrupting the moment: “Do you see what you want?”
His Response Didn’t Pass The Vibe Check
Kathy’s video amassed 2 million views. For many, they believed her fiancé’s reaction to the pregnancy was a red flag.
“Wrong place, time and person,” one viewer commented.
“He genuinely does not look happy about it,” another remarked.
A third suggested, “This is so embarrassing. Girl delete this and maybe run.”
Moreover, others would’ve felt devastated in her place.
“I would have cried if that was me with that reaction,” one commenter wrote.
“I’d punch my man if he acted like that,” a second said.
Fiancé Enters The Chat
A video less than a minute long doesn’t always accurately capture a person’s feelings. Creators pick and choose the fragment of the overall perspective to show viewers. From what Kathy’s gathered in her comments section, they didn’t approve of the glimmer they saw, firing criticism toward her fiancé. As a result, he attempted to clear the air by filling in the gaps with context.
“I just wanna come on here and say that I was extremely happy with the news!” the man commented. “If the waitress hadn’t [come] and disrupted the video you would have seen me in tears of happiness not more than 60 seconds later. I’m already a very laid back person and don’t show very much emotion for anything! There was definitely some shock because Kathy played it off [perfectly] earlier in the day saying she was negative so I wasn’t even thinking about it anymore.”
He continued, “It was my choice to take her here for dinner like any other date night. I didn’t know there would be loud karaoke or even had a clue what Kathy was going to do. I’m used to grabbing things for her and messing around with her like this but when I saw the test at the end it took me a second to put 2 and 2 together and when I did I was surprised and shocked for a quick second. Then literally 2 seconds later the waitress came and we stopped the video. This woman is amazing inside and out and I love her with my whole heart! I’m so excited to be married in a couple weeks!”

Expanding a family can be, without a doubt, nerve-wracking for both parties. Life is fundamentally changed as soon as a baby enters the picture, and your priorities revolve around them.
