Woman spots her selfies on fake Tinder account - but catfish edited them first

As dating apps become more popular, so does the number of fake profiles created by catfishes.

Catfishing, for those who don't know, is when a person takes information or pictures from other people and pass them off as their own to create a new identity for themselves.

One woman has revealed how her photos were stolen and used on Tinder - but if that's not bad enough already, they'd been edited too.

Grace shared the story on TikTok, where she's known as @uniwithgrace, in which she pointed out that her facial features in the fake account looked completely different from her own.

In a video that has been viewed more than 2.3 million times, Grace showed the original selfies and the ones that had been used in 23-year-old 'Hannah's' profile, to show how obvious it was that they'd been played around with.

She said: "WHY HAS SOMEONE MADE A FAKE TINDER OF ME BUT EDITED THE PICTURES LIKE THIS."

It appears that the person who made the account had used an app of some sort to make her nose appear larger and her eyes and lips smaller.

Grace said she suspected that the account had been made by someone she knows, since Hannah, the name used on the Tinder profile, is her real middle name.

Since being posted the video has racked up almost 220,000 likes and 1,000 comments from people who were stunned at the effort the catfish went to use Grace's selfies.

One person said: "OMG some people have too much time on their hands."

Another wrote: "This happened to me too! I'm still so confused."

A third commented: "THIS IS SO PERSONAL."

Someone else said: "So your face wouldn't show up if someone tried to reverse image search it."
