Woman sparks huge row by revealing she eats cake with a fork not a spoon

A woman has sparked a debate online after she revealed which piece of cutlery she uses to eat a piece of cake.

Many of us most likely dig into the tasty treat without a second thought, but not this mum.

Posting anonymously on Mumsnet, the woman explained that she uses a fork to eat cake - in this case, chocolate fudge cake - as "a spoon is for soup and ice cream."

She went on to say that her partner thinks it doesn't matter what cutlery you use, but she thinks that's "not right," and that she "cannot enjoy cake using a spoon."

Since sharing her question, her post has sparked quite a debate among users who argued the 'correct' piece of cutlery to use.

Many people agreed with her, with the most popular response being that using a fork is the only way to go.

One person said: "Cake fork. [Darling husband] uses a spoon, I still find it odd after a decade together."

Another wrote: "Always a fork!"

A third commented: "A fork. The curve of a spoon is all wrong."

Someone else put: "Little fork is preferred but failing that a teaspoon. Nobody eats cake with a proper fork surely?"

But a couple of people did admit to using a spoon.

"I use a teaspoon," revealed one person, while a second Mumsnet user said: "I like to use a spoon, you lose less of the crumbs."

A few people on the other hand said it depends on the cake.

"Some cake is too crumbly and flimsy for a fork so I’d use a spoon," wrote one user. "Also depends whether it’s just cake or cake and custard, for example, that obviously requires a spoon!"

Others revealed that they don't use any cutlery at all.

"Cutlery?? I usually just bury my face in it!" said one person, while someone else said: "In our family, we pick the cake up with our fingers and take large bites of it!"

This isn't the first time cutlery has sparked a debate as previously a woman divided opinions after she asked people to share the order of their cutlery drawer.

The anonymous mum shared a snap of her cutlery drawer on Facebook, where her post racked up thousands of reactions from people who held very strong opinions about how it should be done.

Take a look at how she organises the drawer here.
