A woman was left upset on Christmas Day after she was made to sit on the living room floor all day, while her family sat on the sofa. Taking to Mumsnet, the woman said she felt disappointed on Christmas Day at her parents' home after she was left sitting on the floor all day.
She posted: “Not sure if I’m overreacting but I just feel so hurt. When I spend Christmas Day at my parents there aren’t enough chairs in the living room for everyone.

“This year I was left sitting on the floor all day. I’d hoped when we all went back into the living room after Christmas lunch I might get the opportunity to sit on the sofa but everyone else took their seats where they were previously, leaving me to sit on the floor again.
“My sister, brother in law, mother, and aunt are all fit and able bodied and just as capable as me at sitting on the floor, but they just kept the comfortable seats for themselves all day.
“Am I being unreasonable to feel so disappointed that on Christmas Day my family was just happy to see me on the floor all day?”
People on Mumsnet suggested the poster should have been more vocal and spoke up about the issue.
One person said: “They are pretty thoughtless, but I'd have thought you could have said something. Why not bring a dining chair through? I would probably have done that, and if asked why then I would have explained that I just wasn't comfortable enough on the floor.”
Another commenter replied: "That is annoying. Did you say something like ‘would anyone mind swapping with me, I’ve been sitting on the floor a while now and my back needs a break?’"
One added: “It's annoying and not great hosting from your parents, but I'd bring a chair from another room. Sometimes you have to look out for yourself.”
