Woman shares hack to stop rug corners rolling up - which people 'need' to try

While homeowners may go to extreme lengths to furnish their homes, there may be some gruelling challengers along the way to make it picturesque. Those who have purchased new rugs will relate to the insignificant task of trying to flatten out the rolled up corners.

Taking to popular video-streaming service TikTok, a savvy woman shared a quick cure to the common issue. Sara - who boasts more than 4,500 followers on account @functionalforyou - shared the insightful method, which people 'need' to try.

Sara always runs an Instagram account under the same username - where she posts efficient video hacks and wholesome household content.

Since sharing her rug hack on TikTok, her video has surpassed a whopping 3.1 million views to date.

Trying out a popular method first-hand, Sara put the iconic ice cube hack to the test. "Testing the ice cube hack for rolled rug corners," she wrote.

The method is simple, all you'll need is a few ice cubes and anything with significant weight to it - whether it's a candle, a glass, or so forth.

Place the pieces of ice beside the rolled up bit of carpet and place down your heavy object on the corner to pin it to the floor.

Once the ice is melted, and you've left it overnight, the carpet should lay flat once you've removed your item of choice.

According to Sara, the ice cubes 'saturate the rug slowly' rather than right through, which water would do.

She wrote in the post's caption: "I wanted to take the opportunity to post my original video here. AND reassure everyone that this will not create a mould or mildew situation. It is just a few ice cubes after all Try this on your rolled rug corners and lmk what you think!"

Since sharing, Sara's video has raked in over 200 comments to date.

Taking to the comment section, one person wrote: "Oh my goodness I needed this."

"BRILLIANT," another penned.

A third claimed: "That's how my mom always got rid of furniture marks in the carpet after rearranging things :)."

A fourth said: "Whattt."
