Woman sees her favorite singer started following her on Instagram and jumps with excitement. Then she opened their account: ‘This is humiliating’

TikTok creator Paloma (@whor3chata_) is sparking a massive wave of sympathy (and second-hand embarrassment) on TikTok with her recent grwm story. The creator shared the “before and after” of being followed by one of her favorite singers on Instagram. Sadly, the “after” is humiliating.

We have all experienced that split-second rush of adrenaline when a notification from a celebrity hits our screen. But for Paloma, that high-stakes interaction crashed into a digital wall. With over 86,000 views, her story highlights the chaotic emotional rollercoaster of modern stan culture. The video captures how “manifestation” sometimes turns into a total digital banishment.

A favorite singer randomly followed Paloma her on Instagram

Paloma’s week started with what she described as the most “humiliating” yet thrilling experience. She received a notification on Instagram that one of her favorite singers had liked her video. And before she could let that skin it, the singer also hit the follow button.

At first, she assumed it was a mistake, but the connection deepened when the mystery celebrity liked one of her stories. “They liked my story, which means they’re conscious of the fact that they follow me,” Paloma reasoned. So, she interpreted the interaction as a deliberate choice and a sign that they were “on the same page.”

The singer’s Instagram vanished shortly after the follow

The honeymoon phase ended abruptly when Paloma decided to do a little “research” into the account. When she went to check the profile, she discovered she could no longer see it. This lead her to believe that she had been blocked.

The sudden disappearance felt like a targeted “punishment.” Paloma noted that being blocked is objectively a hundred times worse than a simple unfollow. It left her questioning what she could have possibly done to deserve such a rapid exit from their digital world.

Could this be a strange marketing tactic?

In true “delusion” fashion, Paloma began to wonder if the disappearance was actually a calculated move for an upcoming music release. She noted that the singer has an “emo” persona and suggested that deactivating an account is a common trope for artists entering a new era.

If the singer deactivated their entire profile to build hype for a new album, Paloma’s “block” might actually just be a temporary blackout. And she wouldn’t be alone in this. She hopes to confirm this theory in a few weeks.

The technical truth behind the disappearing profile

While marketing stunts are common, there is a simpler technical explanation for what happened. If a celebrity accidentally follows a fan and then realizes their mistake, they sometimes “soft block” (block and then immediately unblock) the person to force an unfollow without it looking like a public snub.

However, if the account is completely unreachable for everyone, the singer likely deactivated the profile. As one user pointed out, Instagram allows users to see “deactivated accounts” in their followers tab. That would settle the debate once and for all.

The comments section was pouring with sympathy

Paloma’s comments section dropped a mix of strategic advice and high-level encouragement to keep the dream alive. “Girl I’m hurt and it’s not even me,” one viewer remarked, feeling the physical pain of the digital rejection. “Maybe they thought you were too unbelievably beautiful,” another added, offering the ultimate “delusional” silver lining.

One also suggested Paloma “Get a friend to check it for you,” providing a practical way to bypass the block theory.

Digital heartbreak hurts, but it’s probably not that deep

Paloma’s story is a reminder that in the world of social media, proximity to fame is often a fleeting illusion. She might’ve been blocked, “soft blocked,” or caught in a deactivation cycle. But the experience of being “almost married” to a pop star is something she’ll have to process for weeks.

But you don’t need to stop manifesting that celebrity dream. Keep your NDA ready and your followers tab open. Because you never know when an “emo” deactivation might end.
